FRANKLIN – Anna Zone almost psyched herself out of the moment Tuesday night. Almost. The Franklin High School junior locked in one more time to fire in the game-winner after drawing a foul in the final seconds. Her free-position goal as time expired lifted the Admirals past visiting Brentwood 11-10 in Region 3-AA battle among two of the top lacrosse programs in the state.

FRANKLIN – After 10 seasons serving double duty, Franklin High School soccer coach Mike Burgoyne has stepped down as girls head coach. The veteran local leader will remain as the boys coach. The Admirals announced assistant Kyle Roelke will be the new head coach for the girls, who reached the Class AAA state tournament once again in October with a senior-laden group. The change was confirmed by the school Wednesday.

NOLENSVILLE – One more run on her home track in competition didn’t disappoint Tuesday at the WillCo Championships Track & Field competition. And it’s not her fastest, but it was still good for the fifth best time in the nation, according to MileSplit USA. “I started training kind of late in the season and really just wanted to come out here and enjoy this last night on our home track with my teammates,” said Claire Stegall, a decorated Nolensville High School senior.
