Levi’s GranFondo bike ride will bring thousands of cyclists to Sonoma County on Saturday for a full day of riding. The bikes will depart from 7:25 to 8:45 a.m. from Windsor’s Town Green, where cyclists will head out of Windsor to pedal along a half-dozen routes covering between 10 and 138 miles that will take them to Healdsburg, Cloverdale, Guerneville and elsewhere in north and west Sonoma County.

A woolly procession of sheep set to make its way through Petaluma Saturday morning has prompted a warning to drivers from police. Petaluma police are urging the public to avoid driving in the area between the Petaluma Fairgrounds and the Petaluma River as several roads will be closed as part of the annual Transhumance Festival’s sheep parade.

Rufus Wainwright, the acclaimed singer-songwriter whose songs range from pop to opera, is coming to Sonoma County this summer for an intimate show. The Grammy-nominated artist will kick off the West Coast leg of his current “Going to a Town” solo tour when he returns to Little Saint in Healdsburg Sept. 9, the venue announced on Instagram this week. Wainwright last played Little Saint in March 2023.

Nearly a year after it opened its base operations at Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, Avelo Airlines will shut down those operations May 1, according to Airport Manager Jon Stout. The Houston-based budget carrier, which also recently signed an agreement to fly federal deportation flights from Arizona, according to Stout, will eliminate half of its current flights out of Santa Rosa, and two of its four remaining routes will be offered seasonally.
