Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain will go into next Tuesday’s first leg on the back of draws, but one Arsenal player says the team is expecting a much different showing against the French side. PSG looked set for a win on Tuesday after Vitinha gave them a one-goal lead, but FC Nantes found an equalizer late to snatch a point from the newly crowned Ligue 1 champions. Arsenal had a similar story on Wednesday, drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace.

Arsenal don’t need to fear PSGThe Champions League semi-final against PSG is looming large for Arsenal. In all honesty, it’s pretty much impossible to think about anything else. PSG are obviously in fantastic form, but the good thing for Arsenal is they do not need to fear anyone right now. Why would they? They’ve just beaten Real Madrid, the reigning European champions home and away. They took on the 15-time winners and comprehensively hammered them over 180 minutes.

Arsenal cruised to a comfortable 4-0 success at Ipswich Town as they got back to winning ways in the Premier League. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring early on for the Gunners before Gabriel Martinelli finished off a flowing move to double the lead just before the half hour mark. Lief Davis was then sent off for Ipswich after a horrible challenge on Bukayo Saka, which ended the game as a contest.

To walk into the cauldron of the Bernabeu and to silence it the way they did. It was remarkable really. In truth, over the two legs, it was a mauling. Arsenal ground Madrid down and by the end they looked broken. They just had no answer to Mikel Arteta’s side. I thought the win in the home leg was spectacular, but the victory last night was a sign of a team that now genuinely believes it can beat anyone, anywhere.

I’m writing this column as I fly back to London from Madrid and I’m honestly finding it tough to sum up exactly how I’m feeling after last night’s events in the Bernabeu. It just doesn’t get any bigger than what Arsenal did at the home of the 15-time European champions. They came of age in front of our eyes. It was just very, very special to witness. Declan Rice was phenomenal over the two legs. That was as good a 180 minute performance as you will see from a player on the biggest stage.
