A 30-YEAR-OLD man has admitted assaulting a woman, damaging her mobile phone and sending grossly offensive messages. Charley Mills also assaulted a man, the Royal Court heard. And Mills admitted dangerous driving on various roads around the Island and failing to provide a breath test at the police headquarters. Mills entered guilty pleas to all the offences, which took place in July. He was remanded in custody for sentencing on 23 May.

JERSEY War Tunnels has been sold. The 1,000-metre underground tunnel complex, which was put on the market with an asking price in excess of £5.5 million in June last year, had been owned by Daisy Hill Real Estates for more than 60 years. Following “interest from several private buyers”, the site has ultimately gone to Trevellyan Operations, headed by Lance Trevellyan, whose Jersey business portfolio also includes CCA Galleries International.

HOUSE prices in Jersey saw their biggest annual fall last year “on record”. The 8% drop – the largest since at least 1986 – between 2023 and 2024 was revealed in the latest House Price Index released yesterday by Statistics Jersey. The average price of a house was £589,000 last year compared to £636,000 in 2023 – a reduction of over £40,000.

A NEW inter-island foot passenger ferry is to begin running daily services between Jersey and Guernsey this summer. Islands Unlimited has announced its intended schedule for 2025, beginning in June. The company has confirmed that a standard adult return fare will be priced at around £67.

A GOREY beach café’s annual fish finger sandwich fundraiser – which was started in memory of a beloved family member – has raised almost £50,000 for local charities. Each year Rhona’s at the Beach chooses a local charity to benefit from the proceeds of sales of its fish finger sandwiches and cake. Rhona Hewit, who runs the café, started the initiative after she lost her nephew to suicide, leading her to raise money for the now-closed Jersey Recovery College.
