Well here we are! It’s election day, and we here at Crikey campaign headquarters are proud to say we have been entirely consistent in our message — and that message is: please don’t vote for us. Well, if only 4% of you voted for us, that would be ideal, actually. Then we’d get our money back.

We went back and forth in the bunker about what lie to tell in our political campaign ad. “Clive Palmer hunted down the last Tasmanian tiger”, “Clive Palmer is a secret member of the Greens”, “Clive Palmer spent all his money on renewable energy”, or perhaps “Clive Palmer wants to introduce a death tax“. After the corflute disaster, things are really starting to look up: we’ve gotten a political donation. From who? We’re not telling you. Let’s just call him the shareholder activist… no that’s too obvious… Crikey founder… uh… Spaceman Africa is already taken. Let’s go with: Starsailor Bermuda. How much? Well, the earliest you’re going to know is next February.
