A 46-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a stabbing in downtown New Bedford, police said. New Bedford police were called to the intersection of Elm and Purchase streets on Wednesday for a report of a stabbing victim. Arriving officers found a man with a “severe laceration” to his arm and two other minor wounds, New Bedford Police said in a statement. A man identified as a suspect had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, police said.

At least one person was seriously injured when a vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer Thursday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police said. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation first reported the crash on X just before 2:45 p.m.“Preliminary information indicates a vehicle rear-ended a tractor-trailer, resulting in serious injuries and entrapment,” Tim McGuirk, a spokesman for State Police, wrote in an email.

Cedric Lodge, of Goffstown, New Hampshire, becomes at least the third person to plead guilty in the stolen human remains scheme — his wife, Denise, pleaded guilty last April, and another man, Jeremy Pauley, pleaded guilty in September 2023.
