    In his State of the State Address on the first day of this year’s session of the Oklahoma Legislature, Governor Stitt challenged the lawmakers to put on his desk a tax cut of one half a percent and then a pathway to get our state income tax reduced to zero over a reasonable amount of time. Since the revenues for this year are a little less than that available last year, some legislators are suggesting there is little chance for a tax cut this year.

    Over the past few months, the activities of grassroots citizens have really ramped up in an effort to put a halt to continued growth of the green energy sham and all that accompanies it. I would say the war is against the giant wind turbines, solar battery farms (which actually eliminate portions of farms and ranches), the building of new electric transmission lines, and carbon capture pipelines.

    There is currently a significant effort to have school board elections moved to the general election every other year in November. I have generally been against such a measure, but the effort has caused me to look a little closer at the issue. I recently spoke to a respected leader in the effort to find out the movement's goal and was told it was all about increasing turnout.

    A group called Raise the Wage Oklahoma has filed an initiative petition to collect signatures to place State Question 832 on the ballot. If enacted, it would create a state statute to gradually raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage from its current $7.25 an hour to $15.00 an hour in 2029. The petition also has a provision to mandate future increases tied to a cost-of-living index, therefore it would climb much higher in the future.

    The OKC (Oklahoma City) Slicksters is the loving name I gave to the original owners of the Seattle Super Sonics currently known as the OKC Thunder basketball team. Before I describe the owners latest tricks, let us do a little history review, at least to the best of my memory. Some 18 years ago the ownership of the Seattle Sonics wanted to sell their NBA team. There were five prominent businessmen in OKC that wanted to own an NBA team.
