A Devon farmer has revealed the huge financial and 'soul destroying' impact of ewe thefts which he says has turned Dartmoor into the 'Wild West' in terms of sheep crime. Colin Abel, who has run Lower Godsworthy Farm in Tavistock since 1888, estimates in the last decade he more than 4,500 sheep have gone missing. With each ewe worth roughly £120, it has caused him losses of more than £500,000. This winter - like most years - Mr Abel is missing more than 400 ewes.
