The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Bim Afolami MP, has announced a new industry-led taskforce, to be chaired by the Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT), that will endeavour to unlock the full potential of Open Finance. The taskforce will build on the foundational work done by CFIT’s industry-wide coalition on Open Finance, by providing recommendations to the UK Government on how financial data can be safely unlocked to improve SMEs’ access to credit.

A new project has been announced that will involve the first ever detailed analysis of the FinTech ecosystem in the Liverpool City Region. The initiative will be a collaboration across organisations from the public and private sector, as well as higher education. The project will be led and delivered by Whitecap Consulting, the regional strategy consultancy that has conducted similar work over recent years across numerous regional FinTech ecosystems.
