Could Labour really be about to unleash another “bonfire of the quangos”? Pat McFadden, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, certainly appears minded to do so. Earlier this week, it was reported he had written to ministers asking them to justify all quangos operating under their departments as part of a drive to “rewire” the state and wage war on “waste”.

Last week Sir Keir Starmer welcomed German chancellor Olaf Scholz to Chequers, where the two men reflected ‚Äúon the progress made between the UK and Germany in recent months‚ÄĚ. Forget the second referendum, Starmer appears to be taking matters into his own hands - and deciding that Brits want to rejoin the trade bloc (that‚Äôs when he‚Äôs not trying to sign Britain up to ‚Äúreparations‚ÄĚ).

Yesterday I stumbled on a very interesting interview with Led by Donkeys, which sheds some light on their relationship with Keir Starmer. It was published in The New Statesman in October, but appears to have gone under the radar. In short, Led by Donkeys (LBD) know Starmer much more than Brits might realise - perhaps explaining why the group leaves him alone while constantly bashing Reform. In 2008 it turns out that Starmer helped two of LBD (before they were “Donkeys”) prepare a legal defence.
