There are a few spas I enjoy visiting whenever I travel to certain cities. Whether for the day, or overnight, I always look forward to spending some time at these spas, and here’s why. There’s always something happening in Atlanta. A party, a conference, a call for shenanigans and healing with my ATL based homies, and a chance to luxuriate. JeJu is a Korean spa located in Duluth — right outside of Atlanta. Seeing so many Black people enjoying themselves and taking time out for self-care is a dream.

I interviewed addison shortly after they returned from an approximately 150 hour cross-country road trip. addison is a self-described nerdy, Black, fat, queer, agender, Socialist, Unitarian Universalist, who loves video games, picking up and discarding hobbies, and travel (as you will see in this interview). They drove for a total of 8,294.5 miles from Durham, North Carolina up north, down the west coast and back home-plenty of time for reflection, excitement, and tips to share with readers.

Especially if you are healing from a surgery. At the time of my surgery two years ago, my employer offered up to 6 weeks paid time off for medical leave. And although I only needed half of that time to recover from my surgery, I took all 6 weeks - and quite honestly, I could have used even more.
