The original hope was that top prospect Vaughn Grissom would win the job in Spring Training, proving to be the long-term answer. However, Spencer Strider will go a long way in accomplishing that goal, and he appears to have taken a massive step towards rejoining the team, throwing his first bullpen since suffering a Grade 1 hamstring strain on April 16th.

The Braves’ three-game win streak came to a halt last night, thanks in large part to a big night from TJ Friedl. The Reds center fielder took Grant Holmes deep not once, but twice, as the right-hander struggled to follow up his dominant outing against the Dodgers. Friedl’s pair of homers put the Reds up 4-0 early, a lead that looked insurmountable the way Hunter Greene was dealing.
