    Chatham-Kent police, thanks to help form St. Thomas police, finally have their man. Leonard Greason, 48, of London, had been wanted in connection with the summer fire at 99 McNaughton Ave. since shortly after the fire that left hundreds of residents temporarily without a home took place. On Wednesday afternoon, St. Thomas police scooped him up and sent him to Chatham. He faces charges of arson-disregard for human life.

    Succession planning. That’s the reasoning given by Chatham-Kent CAO Michael Duben for the municipality seeking to hire a “Mini Me” version of Duben. A job posting for a deputy chief administrative officer for C-K surfaced recently on the employment website Indeed.com, with a salary structure of between $196,000 to $240,000. That’s pretty rich money for being the number two person of a municipality of 110,000 people. It’s also a new position.

    The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has received a 12 per cent boost in its Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding from the province. It means C-K is getting $21.5 million from the fund that is Ontario’s primary general assistance grant for municipalities. While the announcement isn’t news to Chatham-Kent, as an OMPF estimate was already factored into C-K’s budget process, Mayor Darrin Canniff said the 12 per cent increase is a win.
