The segment will air in the 8 a.m. timeslot highlighting the “Finding Edna Lewis” documentary and the legacy of Juneteenth. Viewers can catch Freeman speaking to journalist Laura Jarrett and Edna Lewis’ niece, Nina Williams-Mbengue, at the Gage & Tollner restaurant in New York City.

From 1830 to 1860, the Manchester Docks — or Ancarrow’s Landing — was a major port in the massive slave trade that made Richmond the largest source of enslaved Africans on the East Coast of the United States. Africans arrived at the docks in the bowels of slave ships before being sold on the auction blocks in the marketplaces of Shockoe Bottom. On Saturday, Elegba Folklore Society hosted Juneteenth 2025, a Freedom Celebration in this same space, right in front of the water.
