In atomic Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices, mean-field energy can support the existence of period-doubled density waves, which are similar to Bloch waves but have the double periodicity of the underlying lattice potentials. However, they are dynamically unstable. Here, we propose to use the spin-orbit coupling to stabilize the period-doubled density waves.

AbstractThe manipulation of cell identity by reprograming holds immense potential in regenerative medicine, but is often limited by the inefficient acquisition of fully functional cells. This problem can potentially be resolved by better understanding the reprogramming process using in vivo genetic models, which are currently scarce. Here we report that both enterocytes (ECs) and enteroendocrine cells (EEs) in adult Drosophila midgut show a surprising degree of cell plasticity.

1 Introduction Soft-chemical process of delaminating/exfoliating layered materials into unilamellar nanosheets dispersed in solution and reassembling them as building blocks is one of the most effective approaches for designing and fabricating advanced nanostructured materials with desired functionality.[1-6] The tailored structures and specific properties associated with them can be constructed by precisely controlling the arrangements of selected nanosheets or other components at a...

Abstract:Accurate prediction of landslide displacement is an effective way to reduce the risk of landslide disaster. Under the influence of periodic precipitation and reservoir water level, many landslides in the Three Gorges Reservoir area underwent significant displacement deformation, showing a similar step-like deformation curve.
