The Oracy Commission’s report, We Need to Talk, published in October, concluded that oracy should be recognised as the fourth “R” alongside reading, writing, and arithmetic. It highlighted a significant gap in spoken communication and interpersonal skills among school leavers and graduates, despite these skills being highly valued by employers.
