There’s a calm in the air as I walk through the gate at the Seattle PlayGarden on a recent Monday morning. Passing by two giant silver sculptured dandelions bursting with seed and a row of perfectly clipped topiary animals, I am struck by the simplicity of the small playground to my left, the width of the sidewalks in front of me, and the beauty of the well-kept garden beds all around.

A bill that gained bipartisan support in the Washington state Senate to strengthen online safety for children has failed to move forward in the House. Senate Bill 5708 came at the request of Attorney General Nick Brown’s office and would have prevented social media companies from pushing addictive feeds and sending notification alerts during certain hours to children under age 18. Gov. Bob Ferguson also backed the bill.

Drippey is a very industrious bee – a humanoid bee — who lives on a planet called Honeymoon, plants a garden of flowers and fruits, and devises the Super Watering Can 2000 to power their growth and feed all his friends. He’s also the brainchild of a 7-year-old Oliver Popa, whose teacher was so impressed with the story of Drippey (written for a class assignment) that she made an improbable suggestion.

The Snohomish County Health Department sent out a warning today, April 2, about a new measles case in a infant. The baby was likely exposed during recent travel abroad. While those who are vaccinated against measles are unlikely to contract the disease, people who were at certain locations in Snohomish and King counties at the same time as the baby may have been exposed to measles.
