    Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash involving an 18-wheeler on I-20 W between Brandon and Pearl Friday morning. The big rig crashed into the woods and is on fire. Firefighters are working to contain the fire. The condition of the driver is unknown at this time. According to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, the crash happened just before 5:30 a.m., and all westbound lanes near MS 18/Exit 54 are closed.

    A house in Jackson is considered a total loss after flames ripped through the structure. The call on Oak Park Drive came in around 2:30 a.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they said the majority of the home was home fire. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    The Yazoo County Sheriff's office is investigating a shooting that sent a teen to the hospital Thursday night. The 15-year-old male victim was found shot around 7 p.m. near Oakhaven Apartments on Corrine Booker Drive (formerly Shady Drive), in Yazoo City. The victim is in serious condition.

  • Man sentenced in deadly wrong-way crash in Brandon

    A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for a crash that killed a mother and injured her son.Marcal Joshua Collins pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated DUI for the 2023 crash in Brandon, according to a news release from Bubba Bramlett, the district attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties.On Aug. 21, 2023, the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol and other local law enforcement agencies responded to a wreck on I-20 near the Crossgates exit in Brandon.
