A Pender County couple completed a nearly year-long boat cruise of the eastern U.S. and part of Canada. The couple covered over 6,300 miles and visited 19 states and two Canadian provinces. Despite encountering a storm in Florida, they enjoyed the wildlife and camaraderie with other boaters. They recommend the trip to others with suitable boats and planning. Wilmington's 35th annual Earth Day Festival will be held on April 26th at Long Leaf Park from noon to 6 p.m.The festival will feature live music, food trucks, environmental exhibitors, and family-friendly activities. Free shuttle service will be provided by Wave Transit between the New Hanover County Senior Center and the festival. Oak Island will also host Earth Day and Arbor Day celebrations on April 26th at Middleton Park Complex and Bill Smith Park.
