Thanks to plenty of pop-culture buzz at the time (Stranger Things, Critical Role), D&D's reputation had quickly evolved from nerdy to cool.

Adventure up a flight of narrow wooden stairs to the second floor of the historic Hillyard United Building and you'll meet an unusual sight: hundreds upon hundreds of fantastical plastic beings. Carefully grouped along shelves stretching from floor to ceiling are dragons in every size and color, their wings frozen mid-flight.

click to enlarge Spokane public library photo Crammed in a narrow canyon of North Idaho's Silver Valley, in perhaps one of the most inconvenient but also beautiful places for a hub of human habitation, are the rusted remains of a once-lively mountain mine town. Global Neighborhood Thrift & Vintage's resident cat Smudge has many roles. For nearly all of his two years, the green-eyed, gray-and-white feline with a smudge of gray on his left cheek has been living quite a cushy life at the local nonprofit's Logan neighborhood warehouse and store.

We are migrating to Bluesky. Follow us there @inlander.com for your local arts, culture and news coverage!ππ¦

Some big news I've been sitting on for a few weeks: I'm honored to be named as @TheInlander's next editor (and first woman in the role!). We have a great team in place, and I'll be leading the paper alongside @SAWohlfeil, our new news editor. https://t.co/X9uZep9DOr

Back in March, we decided we'd finally visit Japan, and immediately started studying the language (our incredible trip was 2 months ago). Part of that is learning kanji through @WaniKaniApp which is SUPER challenging but also rewarding β I just hit level 12 after seven months! https://t.co/3xZXwJnphs
