È lunga quasi quanto l’intero miniappartamento (24 metriquadrati) e alta 2,9 metri la struttura progettata da TwoFiveFive Architectsper arredare gli alloggi di Uxolo Apartments, nel Central Business District diCittà del Capo. Nato inizialmente per ospitare residenze temporanee, dopo lapandemia il complesso è stato ripensato anche in funzione di lunghe permanenze.

Sono in partenza perCina, Stati Uniti, Australia le scatole dell’ultima partita di sedie Mattiazzi,azienda friulana che realizza il 95 per cento del suo fatturato (circa 4,5milioni) all’estero. Una realtà talmente consolidata oltre confine che quando AnnaLombardi ha curato a Udine la mostra U Design sull’industria del design delterritorio l’ha inclusa perché aveva visto una sedia Branca allo SFMoma di San Francisco.

The boxes of the last batch of Mattiazzi chairs, a Friulian company that generates 95 percent of its turnover (about 4.5 million euros) from foreign sales, are on their way to China, the United States and Australia. This manufacturing concern is so well established abroad that when Anna Lombardi curated the U Design exhibition on the local design industry in Udine, she included it because she had seen a Branca chair at the SFMoma in San Francisco.

This is the challenge for Milan’s Salone del Mobile, being held at Milan Rho Fiera from 8 to 13 April, alongside the Biennale Euroluce and the traditional Salone Satellite devoted to designers under 35. Over 2,000 exhibitors are expected to attend, with 38% of them coming from 37 countries.

Renzo Piano is the first protagonist of the new series that Corriere della Sera, in collaboration with Living and Abitare, is devoting to masters of architecture and design. Available at newsstands from Friday, 4 April, the series will feature 30 weekly monographs on key figures past and present, including Frank Gehry, Herzog & de Meuron, Gio Ponti, Achille and Piergiacomo Castiglioni, Zaha Hadid, Patricia Urquiola and Mario Cucinella.

In dialogue with the parquet of an industrial character, much of it already in place, the custom-built oak structure redefines the spaces of a bedsit in Milan renovated by Tommaso Giunchi with ElaNández. In the relaxation corner it acts as the base for a sofa, under the windows it becomes a shelf and around the bed, reaching from floor to ceiling, it turns into a bookcase, creating the effect of an alcove.

In dialogo con il parquet dal mood industriale, in gran partepreesistente, la struttura di rovere su disegno ridefinisce gli spazi di unmonolocale a Milano ristrutturato da Tommaso Giunchi con ElaNández. Nell’angolorelax fa da base a un divano, sotto le finestre diventa piano d’appoggio eintorno al letto, alzandosi da pavimento a soffitto, si trasforma in libreria,creando un effetto alcova.
