The Federal Government has announced that students at the federal and state technical colleges will hence forth enjoy free tuition fees, feeding and accommodation as part of its efforts to support Technical and Vocational Education and Training Initiative (TVET). The government explained that the package includes a monthly stipend of N22,500 to students in the colleges.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has directed that student(s) involved in examination malpractice during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) should be barred from sitting any external examinations in Nigeria such as those conducted by WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, for three years. Alausa said such a stringent measure would serve as a deterrent to other students and parents.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has marked one year since the launch of the student loan portal on May 24, 2024. The Fund said in just 12 months, it had transformed access to education financing with over 600,000 students registered, and over 550,000 successful loan applications and N56.85 billion disbursed to cover tuition fees and upkeep allowances.
