To the Editor The advent of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots creates a conundrum for scientific journals with regard to copyright and ownership. Many publishers allow AI use in the production of text, if appropriately acknowledged.1,2 JAMA, Elsevier (The Lancet), and Springer Nature (Nature) have all permitted AI involvement in manuscript preparation1,2 and thus “chimeric” (AI-human) works.
