HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has finalized a draft resolution proposing special mechanisms and policies for expediting the development of urban railway networks in HCMC and Hanoi. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha announced the proposal following a meeting focused on establishing these special mechanisms to advance metro development in the two cities. The draft resolution is set to be presented during the ninth extraordinary session of the National Assembly, scheduled for February 12, 2025.

HCMC – The Government plans to increase the credit package for agriculture and forestry to between VND50 trillion and VND60 trillion to promote growth in the Mekong Delta region. This decision follows Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s directive asking the State Bank of Vietnam to implement several preferential credit programs for supporting the region. The Mekong Delta is a key agricultural hub, accounting for 90% of Vietnam’s rice exports and 60-70% of its fruit and seafood exports.

HCMC – Vietnam’s full-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth has been cut by 15 basis points due to the aftermath of typhoon Yagi, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. The third-quarter growth is now expected to fall by 0.35 basis point, while fourth-quarter growth could slow by another 22 basis points. These numbers were discussed at a government meeting on September 15, where solutions were proposed to mitigate the storm’s impact and assist affected communities and businesses.
