Affecting all Madrid-Barajas Airport travellers, the airport is now restricting entry to its facilities during nocturnal hours from 9 pm to 5 am. A select few entry points will stay open, but these are strictly for those handling appropriate travel documents. This shift in protocol has been caused by the airport's growing issue of people using the terminal as an overnight shelter.

Susan O'Sullivan, 41, originally from Boherbue in north Cork but living in Beechwood Park in Mallow, was killed when her vehicle collided with another car on the N72 in March. Susan was travelling in the car with her two young children when the tragic crash occurred.

Hundreds of people across Cork will benefit from an increase to a major social welfare scheme, which is due to be paid next month. The increase is worth €150 and will be paid to those who receive Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or the Domiciliary Care Allowance. The Carer's Support Grant is paid to carers once a year by the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and used to be called the Respite Care Grant. It is not a means-tested payment.
