In the year 2000, UK shoppers were able to buy from early adopters of ecommerce, such as Amazon and Argos. Other retailers, meanwhile, were catching up throughout the noughties and teen years of the century. As the ability of shoppers to buy online expanded quickly, the value of online sales shot up in response.
