The 5-year-old C. chinensis samples were collected from Huangshui Town, Shizhu County, Chongqing City, China (30°14’24.295 N, 108°23’42.644E). The C. chinensis plants were cultivated by Chongqing Wanglong Huanglian Technology Co. Ltd and our collection was approved by the company. The collected C. chinensis plants were identified by professor Fengming Ren, and stored in the laboratory of the School of Life Science and Engineering in Southwest Jiaotong University.

A total of 8 kindergartens in Chongqing and Liupanshui City were randomly selected for testing by cluster random sampling method (These two cities are designated test sites for China’s national physical fitness test in Southwest China). Meanwhile, 80 to 120 preschool children were randomly selected from each kindergarten in a ratio of about 1:4.
