The National Anti-Scam Centre has released some concerning figures, showing that Australians lost nearly $119 million because of scams between January and April this year. According to statistics from Scamwatch, overall scam reports dropped by 24% compared to the same stretch last year. However, the amount of money lost rose by 28%. While that’s worse than the start of 2024, the good news is that the losses are still lower than the $193 million lost at the start of 2023.

Optus is doing its best to get people using generative AI technology, partnering with American AI company Perplexity to give away free subscriptions to its service. New and existing Optus mobile customers will receive an offer of a 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro, which is valued at $300. Perplexity Pro provides subscribers with “hundreds of Pro Searches per day”, while free users only get a handful each day.

LG announced its flashy 2025 TV range a short while ago, including its cheapest TVs that got a nice colour upgrade. Now, the latest LG QNED TVs, like the brand’s bright Mini LED models, are starting to land in Australian retailers. Branded with LG’s premium “evo” designation, the QNED93A and QNED86A, which start at $2,799 and $1,799 respectively, are among the high-end Mini LEDs now available locally.

Apple’s yearly WWDC event is only a week away but everyone should temper their expectations. Regular Apple reporter Mark Gurman for Bloomberg teased a bit of what to expect at the tech giant’s developer conference. From what he’s saying, don’t get your hopes up too much. Some of the widely tipped announcements include a new gaming hub and renaming this year’s software updates to reference “26”. But as far as revelatory features and AI technologies, Apple won’t make much of a splash.
