New beginnings Rather than my first post being a bio, I'm going to simply outline the purpose of future posts - besides, my history will become clear enough... soon enough. Witnessing stories, finding the extraordinary from within the everyday, and sharing the learning. Whilst I only took the time to really define my statement of purpose in 2022, it didn't just arrive in an epiphany. I've been filmmaking since 2003.

Putting my time at WINDOW FILM magazine and PPFMag into words is difficult. So I’ll keep this short and sweet—thank you for welcoming me into your industry two and a half years ago. Today, this segment feels like home. For my last WINDOW FILM magazine blog, the last thing I want to do is to pat myself on the back. I view the editor position as a leadership role in which you serve others by amplifying their voices via storytelling.

Nicolas Cage is all the rage in 2023. Playing Edward Malus in a 2006 horror film The Wicker Man, Cage screams, “Not the Bees!” during an infamous bee torture scene. I felt a little like Cage when I discovered an estimated 40,000 bees in the siding of my house a few weeks ago (I have photos—don’t worry). Thankfully, the situation is under control. All bees were safely removed from the house, and all is well. But when a family member texted me photos of the infestation, my jaw hit the floor.

I was as excited as anyone for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer—a film that documents the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Nolan’s Tenet, Interstellar and Inception are among my favorite movies. But leading up to Oppenheimer’s release, I realized the movie was Nolan’s most anticipated. Why? He unintentionally hitched a ride with Barbie. Hailey Holder Allen battled stage IV Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS), an extremely aggressive sarcoma typically found in muscles attached to bones. She had tumors in both thighs, underwent numerous surgeries and finished 54 weeks of chemotherapy in August 2020. On Oct. 16, 2021, middle Georgia film shops converged and combined forces at Tint Pro in Warner Robins, Ga., to aid in the then three-year-old’s fight. That fight continued until she passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023.

A Prescott, Ariz., elementary school is now a safer place to work and learn due to newly-installed security film and attachments on the exterior and interior windows of the building. Tempe, Ariz.’s, Total Protection Films completed the 1,100 square-foot, four-day project with two installers and a prepper/helper. The Boat Business Chris Brooks, owner of Kauff’s Tint and Wraps in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is fully immersed (pun intended) in the boat business. He’s been tinting boats for 20 years and is ready to share his story. WF: What got you into boat tinting? Brooks: I live in Palm Beach County, and we have a lot of marinas. I’ve been lucky because I fell into that portion of the industry. A customer asked me if I could look at their boat, and it’s snowballed since then.
