Quilter has set aside £76m in remedial costs as part of its ongoing advice review, following increased regulatory scrutiny of historical charging practices by fund managers. The announcement was made in its full-year report for the year ending 31 December 2024, released today (5 March). Private credit is creating a buzz among investors, so what is it and why is it a plus for your portfolio? Earlier this year, US media reported that private credit, also known as private debt, has fast become one of Wall Street's most popular investment classes. Data firm Preqin is forecasting that the value of the global private credit market will reach an all-time high of $US2.8 trillion ($4.3 trillion) by 2028, almost doubling the 2022 figure of $US1.5 trillion ($2.3 trillion).
