“The Well” was an episode full of disturbing twists. So full of disturbing twists, that there was barely time to worry about what might have been the biggest one. We have discovered at least part of the reason the TARDIS can’t get back to the 24th of May 2025. Yes, the pyramids and Eiffel Tower and taxi floating in space might have been a dead giveaway, but now we know for sure – the Earth has been destroyed. Properly destroyed.

“Lux” saw the Doctor make like Bob Hoskins, and fight a cartoon (and as it happens, MrRing-a-Ding was animated by one of the artists who worked on Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Seeing the Doctor fight a 1930s-style animated monstrosity was the kind of thing that madeyou wonder why the Doctor hadn’t done it before (it’s because of money, that’s why, it wouldhave cost way too much money).
