There is a lot going on in Craigleith these days. On June 19, a crowd of close to 60 people heard about upcoming town projects in Craigleith at an open house hosted by the Craigleith Working Group. Formed in 2023, the working group is a town-endorsed group that is focused on Craigleith-related issues. Stephen Granger is the chair of the group and he acted as the host of the open house.

Letting go of something historical is often hard to do. Grey Highlands council was faced with this emotion at its regular meeting on June 18. The issue: how to dispose of a 50-year-old ice resurfacer that has been in operation at the Rocklyn Arena since 1978, Members of council were flooded with nostalgia when discussing the veteran machine that has been in service in Rocklyn for many years.

Grey Highlands council is not supportive of a proposal that would allow weddings to be hosted on a Lake Eugenia-area property. At its meeting on June 18, council voted unanimously against indicating its support for a county official plan amendment that would allow a site-specific exemption for the proposal to create a wedding venue business on a property located on 12th Concession B near Lake Eugenia.

THE BLUE MOUNTAINS — There will be a boutique hotel in downtown Thornbury after all. On the day that the former Dam Pub building was demolished, the proponents of the Leeward House boutique hotel project told CollingwoodToday the project was back on. “It’s going forward. We came to an agreement with the town. Both sides had to compromise,” said Ian Jay, one of the proponents for the project.
