CHARLOTTE, NC – Storyvine is a newly expanded annual storytelling festival involving Charlotte Mecklenburg Library staffers bringing the art of traditional storytelling into as many CMS schools as possible. The WCCB team was invited to witness the art of traditional oral storytelling ahead of the festival at Trinity Episcopal School. Trinity Episcopal is not part the of CMS schools where Storyvine will be provided this year however they are partners with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.
Developer seeks more time for 286-site resort project

The developer behind a tourist park with 286 sites has lodged an application to extend its approval by three years, to allow it time to finish the project. The extension to the Maroochy River Resort on David Low Way at Diddillibah includes plans for 123 two-bedroom units, 10 two-bedroom long-term duplex units (20 units in total), 92 one-bedroom short-term cabins and 51 short-term glamping tents, plus facilities, amenities and associated infrastructure.

By Tropical Cyclone Alfred might now be a distant memory, but beaches on the Sunshine Coast are still showing the signs of being battered by heavy swell, strong winds and heavy rain for days. The event in early March caused significant erosion at several locations, most notably at Yaroomba, Maroochydore, Kings Beach and along the exposed Kawana stretch.
Service station planned for site of fire-damaged house

Plans for a new service station that would replace a fire-damaged property have been submitted to Sunshine Coast Council for assessment. The new facility would be located across the road from an existing service station, and next door to a veterinary clinic. The 893sqm site on the corner of Caloundra and Dyer streets at Landsborough currently has a vacant house that was damaged in a damaged by a fire in October.
Five-storey data centre proposed for city centre

The Coast's evolution into a digital and commercial hub looks set to continue after a proposal was submitted to develop a major new data centre facility. Technology infrastructure company NEXTDC Limited has submitted plans for a five-level facility that would accommodate data halls and ancillary offices, breakout spaces, front-of-house facilities and standby power generators.
Tree dispute stalls plans for seven-storey project

A proposed 23-unit apartment development has sparked a legal challenge over conditions imposed to protect a tree near the site. Kings Beach Sand Pty Ltd has appealed to the Planning and Environment Court in Brisbane after Sunshine Coast Council imposed development conditions on its application to build the units at 19 and 21 Verney Street, Kings Beach.
