It found depression prevalence has nearly doubled since 2015. Women are more likely than men to have depression. Plans to build an eight-storey unit complex on a sloping cul-de-sac block have been submitted to Sunshine Coast Council. The proposed development at 31 Saltair Street, Kings Beach, would comprise six four-bedroom units plus 15 car parking spaces across two basement levels. A Sunshine Coast hospitality group that owns four local hotels has been sold to a Sydney-based company in a record-breaking off-market deal. Maeva Hospitality, which operates the Bli Bli Hotel, Baringa Tavern, Parklands Tavern and Brightwater Hotel, has been acquired by Redcape Hospitality. Virginia third grader discharges gun inside school FREDERICKSBURG, VA. – The parents of a Virginia third-grader are facing charges after their child brought a handgun to school. Authorities say the weapon discharged during class on Monday, but no one was hurt. It happened inside Lee Hill elementary school on Monday. Deputies have charged the parents of that third grader with felony child neglect. Investigators said the handgun was not locked up inside the house.

A proposal to build eight units on a site that already has approval for five units has been submitted for assessment. The planned complex in Maroochydore would have eight two-bedroom units within a two-storey building above a driveway, car park and landscaping. The building would be located on a 607sqm block on the corner of Hinley Avenue and Ball Street, which is currently occupied by a five-unit single-storey complex.

The Sunshine Coast's first ever "rage room" is set to open later this month, offering people the chance to release their stress or just smash stuff for fun. The Wreck Room is set to open on the Easter long weekend next to the Banana Bender Pub in the Aussie World precinct at Palmview. Founder Jordan Small said the buzz around the venture was exciting, racking up almost 600,000 video views on social media and hitting an 85 per cent female engagement rate.
