An Xiaomi trademark filing for a second-generation custom chip called the “XRING 02,” indicates the company is moving ahead with its in-house silicon production, following in Apple’s footsteps in transitioning to its own custom chips. MacRumors reports the new filing, which was first reported by Wccftech and verified via China’s TianYanCha trademark database, indicates that Xiaomi is moving forward with its development of the XRING 02 system-on-a-chip (SoC).
