It looks like Apple will continue to name versions of its macOS operating system after scenic areas in California, as it seems macOS 26 will carry the moniker “Tahoe.”In his Power On newsletter over the weekend, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said that macOS 26 will be named macOS Tahoe, after California’s scenic Lake Tahoe. Apple has named its Mac operating systems after scenic locations in California since OS X Mavericks in 2013.

In April, we saw a report from The Information‘s Kaya Yurieff and Kalley Huang that said Meta was finally working on an iPad version of its Instagram app. The app currently is only available for the iPhone, altough it will run on the iPad without using the iPad’s full screen. Now, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has corroborated the report in his Power On newsletter over the weekend.

Jeff Pu, an Apple analyst at equity research firm GF Securities, says all four upcoming iPhone 17 models will adopt metalens technology for Face ID, resulting in a slimmer Dynamic Island across the lineup. Pu has a repectable track record when it comes to Apple product rumors. Pu’s comments reiterate his October 2024 claims, when he said the 2025 iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a “much narrowed” Dynamic Island, due to changes being made for Face ID.

Solid-state buttons with haptic feedback are not just for the iPhone anymore, if a new rumor out of China is correct. Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital says Apple has plans to equip not only the iPhone, but also future iPad and Apple Watch models. Over the last few years, we’ve seen reports claiming Apple’s “Project Bongo” would bring solid-state buttons to the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023 and then the iPhone 16 Pro in 2024, but neither rumor came to fruition.
