The chief executive of Toby Carvery has issued an apology for "the upset that it has caused" following the controversial removal of a 400-year-old oak tree outside one of its London restaurants. The ancient tree, located in Whitewebbs Park, in Enfield, was chopped down on April 3 after Mitchells & Butlers, the company that owns Toby Carvery, received advice from specialists claiming the tree was dying and posed a danger to the public.

A group of teenagers have admitted offences after violence broke out in the Essex seaside town of Southend-on-Sea last summer. In total nine have pleaded guilty, including six from London and four of the Londoners can be named due to their age. The nine, all of whom are male and aged between 14 and 18, were charged after youths, some brandishing machetes, fought on the seafront on the evening of July 30.

Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff says he's lived through 'real frustrations' at the level of speculation over the horror crash he was involved in while filming for Top Gear. Flintoff was left with facial and rib injuries after the high-speed smash and was largely out of the public eye during his recovery. In a trailer for his upcoming documentary, which touches on the aftermath of the crash, Flintoff describes his "vivid" memories of the crash and says he can remember "everything about it".

Training app Runna has been bought by Strava. London-based Runna charges people a monthly subscription to create personalised running training plans, while Strava is a free app to log exercise but does come with additional features users can pay for. Runna was launched in 2022 by former McKinsey consultant Dom Maskell and running trainer Ben Parker. Mr Maskell wrote on LinkedIn that Strava "has always been the natural home for Runna from the first day we started working on it".

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced alterations to the Fair Repayment Rate for Universal Credit recipients, set to take effect from April 30. The DWP anticipates that this move will enable approximately 1.2 million households on the means-tested benefit to hold onto more of their monthly payment. Chancellor Rachel Reeves unveiled the Fair Repayment rate during the Autumn Budget in October.
