The California Highway Patrol announced it will set up a DUI checkpoint somewhere in Valley Center on Friday night. Depending on traffic, all vehicles entering the checkpoint will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the CHP said. The agency did not say where the checkpoint would be in Valley Center or during what times it would be in operation.

A study released Wednesday by the personal finance website WalletHub ranked the housing burden based on mortgage payments and energy costs. The cost of housing as a share of median monthly household Income was 53.5% in Hawaii, 46.0% in California and 36.3% in Oregon.
