Funding from the government has allowed Shropshire Council to extend an existing service to connect Shrewsbury and Broseley. It said it hoped the buses would lead to fewer people making car journeys, which in turn would be good for the environment.

Repairs have been carried out on a road in Shropshire after its potholes were compared to deep trenches. Vehicles were getting stuck and damaged, she told BBC News. The council said repairs to the edges of the road had now been conducted with contractors due to return to repair potholes later this week. The road on the Shropshire-Wales border heads towards Welshpool in one direction, and the B4386 towards Shrewsbury in the other.

A hospital patient has won a £130,000 settlement after a failed appendix operation. The man has developed lifelong bowel issues since the 2018 surgery at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, his lawyers said. The patient said the settlement was "a relief", but he still felt "angry" about what had happened to him. Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) has apologised and said a review had been carried out to learn lessons after failings in his care.

Oswestry has won gold for its stunning floral displays, seeing it entered into the Britain in Bloom finals. The town has been crowned winner in the Heart of England's large town category for the second year running. It will now compete against nine other finalists in the Britain in Bloom event in London on 23 October. Natalie Bainbridge, chair of Oswestry in Bloom, said she was pleased and proud of all efforts by volunteers.
