While I agree with most of what Robert Seitz wrote about energy sources and power generation, there is a major problem with continuing to expand cheap fossil fuels. As long as they are available at low cost, there is no motivation to invest in replacing them. We will literally burn through those options first, a systemic behavior also illustrated by how we manage the state budget.
