On May 13, Nipmuc and Blackstone Valley Tech met up in what on the surface looked like just another lacrosse matchup pitting the two cross-street rivals. But the beauty of sports are the stories of those who play the games, and in this case a set of brothers who for almost their entire lives had been allies, suddenly found themselves pitted against each other, if only for a couple hours.

The Nipmuc girls' lacrosse team has been perfect in Mid-Mass play, continuing momentum built after a successful 2023 campaign. “Last year, our team was able to secure a CMass. championship for the first time and only graduated three seniors, thus carrying over many players this year,” Nipmuc coach Grace Merten said.

The Nashoba Regional boys' lacrosse team went 6-2 in April and even in those two losses, the Division 3 Wolves gained valuable experience playing tough against Longmeadow and Walpole, a pair of top-five Division 2 programs. “We intentionally scheduled crossover and out of region games that would be a significant challenge,” Nashoba coach Matt Biggs said. “Our first game was against Longmeadow.

Leominster has found their rhythm winning three out of their last four April contests. FRAMINGHAM — In a matchup of the last Division 2 state champions, fifth-seeded Algonquin and No. 1 Duxbury played a game that lived up to the hype, in their state semifinal showdown Saturday at Loring Arena. In the end, defending champ Duxbury used a two-goal third period to pull away for a 3-1 victory as the Dragons punched their ticket to the title game March 17 at TD Garden. Algonquin, the 2022 Division 2 state champion, finished 16-7-1.
