    The Kaiapoi community is saddened by the news its local Mobil service station will soon operate as an unattended petrol stop. A spokesperson for Mobil Oil New Zealand told chrislynchmedia.com the company is converting a number of service stations nationwide to unattended sites, and Kaiapoi is among them. Mobil will continue to offer 91, 95, and 98 octane petrol, along with diesel, but the station will no longer have staff on site.

    A large police presence was seen in Hornby this morning as officers carried out a search warrant at a residential property. Police were called to an address on Amyes Road, near Shands Road, prompting part of the road to be blocked off. Residents said they saw at least a dozen police vehicles in the area, including armed officers. A police spokesperson confirmed the activity was related to the execution of a search warrant, but no further information was available at this stage.
