WASHINGTON — McDonalds is facing a potential boycott as part of a grassroots "economic blackout" campaign demanding accountability and an end to "price gouging" from the fast food chain. WASHINGTON — The U.S. on Thursday, June 19, will commemorate Juneteenth as a federally recognized holiday for the fifth year. Juneteenth marks the day when the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free. In 2021, it was enshrined as a federal holiday. While the majority of businesses will remain open on Thursday, there are some key exceptions. Because Juneteenth is a federal holiday, many government offices and services will be closed on Thursday.

On a related note to my last tweet, I now get notifications from a "news" account I absolutely don't follow, tweeting what is likely conspiracy theory fodder. Seems like part of a broader trend in my notifications recently: less from people I know, more from random people https://t.co/38QTOYO6Rb
