Police on Monday evening were investigating a suspicious package in Channahon, Illinois. The police station is adjacent to the Channahon Village Hall at 24555 S. Navajo Dr.The village took the suspicious package so seriously that they canceled a village meeting that had been planned for Monday evening. Investigators late Monday were trying to figure out exactly what was in the package. Channahon is located in Will and Grundy counties, about 50 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.

The gunfire went off at 5:22 p.m. on 71st Place off Blackstone Avenue. Soon afterward, just before the sunset, a 911 call brought the Chicago fire and police departments to the block.

CTA bus, Pace bus collide on Chicago's South Side Two buses — one belonging to the Chicago Transit Authority and the other to suburban Pace — collided on the city's South Side Thursday evening. The crash happened within the past half hour at 79th Street, Stony Island Avenue, and South Chicago Avenue, where the ramps to the Chicago Skyway rise. Several ambulances were called to the scene. There was no immediate word on how many people were hurt, or the extent of their injuries.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Indiana Gov. Mike Braun signed nine executive orders on Wednesday that he said will streamline state government and boost efficiency, but one is getting the most attention. The order eliminates diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in state government. Braun said his order would replace DEI with merit, excellence, and intelligence (MEI) initiatives.
