A Brooklyn man admitted last week that he was one of three people who robbed an Ocean County resident who was walking into his home in 2023, authorities said. Vongvichit Vatthanavong, 50, pleaded guilty on May 23 to first-degree robbery, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday. Shortly after midnight on Jan. 5, 2023, officers from the Brick Township Police Department were called to a home for a report of a robbery, according to a statement from the office.

An Asbury Park man was sentenced on May 23 to 20 years in state prison for luring an 11-year-old girl off the street and kidnapping her in 2023, authorities said. Raquan M. Folk, 31, was convicted earlier this year of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree luring a child, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to a statement from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery drawing has climbed to an estimated $173 million, with a cash option of $75.7 million. The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia. NJ.com will publish the winning numbers after the drawing. No one across the country hit Friday’s $154 million jackpot. There were also no second-prize tickets of at least $2 million sold. Friday’s winning numbers were: 7, 18, 40, 55 and 68.

In the aftermath of two large-scale, pop-up gatherings that resulted in fighting and arrests at two Middlesex County malls over the last two weeks, the Bridgewater police chief is warning against any similar pop-up event that may be planned for the Bridgewater Commons Mall. A man has admitted robbing a postal worker at gunpoint in Newark in 2023, authorities announced Tuesday. Troy D. Corbett, Jr., 29, of Newark, pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiring to interfere with commerce by robbery, one count of possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one count of possession of a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking crime, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
