The fitness tracker maker Whoop has (sort of) backtracked on an unpopular change to its upgrade policy that accompanied the launch of the Whoop 5 and Whoop MG hardware last week. The subscription-only company had told users last week that if it wanted to upgrade to a new model, beyond the Whoop 4.0, then they would have to pay an upgrade fee, or re-up for an entire 12 months. The latter meant no benefit compared to brand new customers.

Apple is reportedly planning to add a neat connectivity feature to iOS 19 to make it easier to sign into public Wi-Fi on all of your devices. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the small but significant change to would enable users to sign up for a network just the once and then see the connectivity reflected on their Mac or best iPad.

Apple is preparing for a “monumental” year for devices… in 2027. That’s according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who says Apple is tooling-up to give it’s line-up a huge refresh. In his weekly Power On newsletter, the reliable Apple reporter says the product “renaissance” is coming two years from now, but perhaps without much for fans to get excited about in the meantime.

On the fitness tracker front, the beloved Whoop brand brought its fifth generation model to fore. I’ve been using Whoop since it was a prototype build and it’s been great to see the company’s journey.

When Whoop transitioned from direct hardware sales to a subscription-only model for in 2018 during the Whoop 3 era, the company softened the blow by telling subscribers they’d get free updates to any hardware, a policy which continued into this year.
