Three days after the Red Sox designated Sean Newcomb for assignment, the Athletics added the left-hander via trade for cash. Newcomb, who pitched for the Athletics in 2023-24, gives the team additional depth and looks somewhat different compared to the past. The Red Sox signed Sean Newcomb, a Massachusetts native, this past January on a Minor League deal. The eighth week of the 2025 Minor League season ended just before Memorial Day — and it was a big week, as well. Two notable first-round picks from last July’s MLB Draft made their Triple-A debuts: Jac Caglianone and Christian Moore. And, both aced their first test against Triple-A pitching. It was a big week for the Omaha Storm Chasers, Triple-A affiliate for the Royals. John Rave received a promotion to KC, while Cam Devanney and Jac Caglianone were dominant over the last week.
