A potential roundabout on Anderson Avenue near the Unger Complex continues to be a hot-button topic. Mayor Karen McCulloh, who joined Within Reason with Mike Matson on KMAN earlier this month, said she intends to listen to the engineers’ recommendations on how to potentially make the intersection safer. “The first time I was on the city commission, my final last was to put a roundabout at North Manhattan and Kimball Avenue, and we’ve had two traffic fatalities there,” she said.

Riley County Police Department Director Brian Peete told the Riley County Law Board Monday that his officers answered 503 calls on March 8, down 30 from the previous year. “The five-year average for calls for service is 435.6. We were up a little bit, but we’ve decreased 5.6 percent in calls for service,” he said. Peete said the majority of issues officers encountered were not from Manhattan residents or K-State students.
