An isolated late day pop up is possible between 4 and 9 p.m.Temperatures will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s Friday and through Mother's Day weekend with highs in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Rain chances will pick up Friday with on and off downpours for Mother's Day weekend.

    Heavy rain overnight has cleared central Mississippi, leaving anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain for most spots south of Interstate 20. A few showers will still be possible for the state over the next two days with better coverage rainfall Friday. Lingering showers could continue over the weekend with drier conditions starting Tuesday next week.

    A few showers and an isolated storm is possible Tuesday ahead of a surge of widespread heavy downpours and storms. Heavy rain will continue tonight through midday Wednesday before drying out by mid afternoon. Flash flooding is a big concern for areas south of Interstate 20. Counties along the major interstate could receive 2 to 4 inches. The typical areas of concern for flooding will need to be watched for the morning commute tomorrow.
