May 4, 2025 is a day Winnipeg Jets fans will never forget. With the season slipping through their fingers, the Jets stormed back with two goals in the dying minutes before captain Adam Lowry scored the double overtime winner to lift Winnipeg to a 4-3 Game 7 win over the St. Louis Blues Sunday night. The game couldn’t have started any worse for the Jets as St. Louis scored on their first shot of the game just 70 seconds in. A defensive breakdown in the Winnipeg end created a 2-on-1 for the Blues.

With an opportunity to finish off the Blues in St. Louis, the Winnipeg Jets needed to avoid a repeat of the rough road performances that took them down in Games 3 and 4 in Missouri. Instead, it was like watching a movie you’ve seen before as a terrible stretch in the second period doomed the Jets in a 5-2 loss that sends the series to a winner-take-all Game 7 Sunday in Winnipeg.

It seems that a little home cooking was what the Winnipeg Jets needed to get back on track. After getting demolished in two games in St. Louis, the Jets regained control of their battle with the Blues thanks to a 5-3 win at Canada Life Centre Wednesday night, taking a 3-2 series lead. The Jets got exactly the start they needed, opening the scoring just 1:23 into the game. The play started when a forechecking Mason Appleton was clipped by a high-stick in the St. Louis zone but no call was made.

In the first two games of their series with the Blues, the Winnipeg Jets managed to overcome some not-so-great starts to win both contests. But in Game 3 in St. Louis, they dug themselves such a deep early hole that they could not dig out, falling 7-2 as their series lead was cut in half. After a quiet first two games, Pavel Buchnevich got the scoring started just 49 seconds in. He got free near the crease and a cross-ice feed went off his skate and fluttered in the air towards the net.

Game 2’s have not been kind to the Winnipeg Jets in their young history. Going into Monday night’s game against the Blues, the Jets had lost seven of nine game 2’s in best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoff action. But trends are made to be broken as the Jets emerged from a tight, entertaining hockey game with a 2-1 win to take a 2-0 series lead.

Just finished watching Game 2, no doubt that was the Winnipeg Jets’ best game of the playoffs so far. Great win. Now let’s see if they can bring this on the road. 5 down, 11 to go. #NHLJets

I always wondered what it would sound like in here if the Jets scored a playoff OT goal in front of a full house. Little did I know it would be a Game 7, double overtime goal to cap off a miracle comeback. This is an all-time Manitoba sports moment. #NHLJets

May 4, 2025. Winnipeg sports fans will always remember where they were when Adam Lowry scored in double overtime. #NHLJets
