As general awareness of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”) has continued to rise in recent years, courts have experienced an increase in civil lawsuits alleging false and misleading advertising in corporate marketing statements for consumer products. Most of the lawsuits filed in 2021 and 2022 focused primarily on four categories of products: Food and Food Packaging; Cosmetics; Clothing and Textiles; and Personal Care Products.

The Georgia Supreme Court recently decided important premises liability questions and found landowners liable for injuries to persons on their property caused by third-party criminal assailants. The Court’s decision, Georgia CVS Pharmacy, LLC v. Carmichael, No. S22G0527++, ___ Ga. ___, ___ S.E.2d ___, 2023 WL 4247591 (June 29, 2023), which was one of three consolidated appeals, arose from a shooting incident in the parking lot of an Atlanta area CVS.
