My children don’t always wash their hands after they use the bathroom. Big surprise, right? And they don’t always tell me the truth either when I ask them if they washed their hands. Again, no surprise there. Still, it would be nice to find ways to try to encourage greater honesty in children, and instill in them truthful habits that will stay with them as they get older. Two new studies published in the journal Developmental Psychology suggest some promising ways of doing just this.
